Denver International Wine Festival Kicks off Today

Denver is finally recovered from Great American Beer Festival and all the events that go with with. On the heels comes Denver’s  International Wine Festival. The next five days at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield are  dedicated to to showcasing the top when it comes to food and wine and also pairing the two together.  More than 300 types of wines from across the world started to fill glasses today and runs through Sunday.

This is the 9th year Wine Country International has hosted the event.  A portion of the festival proceeds will benefit Share Our Strength Colorado, a non-profit organization that helps to end childhood hunger in America through the No Kid Hungry campaign.

Here is a schedule of the events.

  • Wednesday, November 6, 6 p.m.

The Grand Vintners Dinner showcases Parducci Wines and cuisine from the Meritage Restaurant. Cocktails start at 6 p.m., dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $65 per person.

  • Thursday November 7, 2013, 6-9pm

Pairsine, The Taste of Elegance Chefs Food & Wine Pairing Competition. Featuring 10 Colorado Chefs creating 20 culinary pairings with 20 Gold-Medal wines from the 2013 Denver International Wine Competition. Guest chef John Moeller, who cooked at the White House for thirteen years, will also be cooking up cuisine.

Grand Tasting of International Wines

Showcasing more than 400 wines, beers & spirits. Small food samples & food for sale.

Educational Seminars
45-60 minute educational programs / Guided tastings provided by top Experts in their fields Friday November 8, 2013, 4 to 7pm

Seminar admission requires a ticket to The Grand Tasting.

  • Saturday, November 9: 

Christopher Davies, editor-in-chief of Wine Country International Magazine, will host a tour of three Front Range Colorado wineries and one distillery. The tour includes a winery lunch. Tickets are $150 and include round-trip transportation.

  • Sunday, November 10:

The Julia Child Tribute Champagne Luncheon features some of her top menu items paired with selections from the great Champagne Houses known throughout the world. SA friend of Julia Child, Madeleine, will lead the afternoon activities with a Sabering demonstration and stories of Julia’s love of food and Champagne. Madeline was the former ambassador and director of Sales for Champagnes: Veuve Clicquot, Gosset, Laurent-Perrier, GH Mumm and Perrier-Jouet. Tickets start at $79.
