Level Terrain is making active wear sleek. Working out with items like keys, cards, and cell phones can be tricky and uncomfortable. Fashion designer and owner of Level Terrain, Mia Do, set out to find a solution. With her extensive design background, it only makes sense that it would be functional and still look fabulous “You would never think of a fanny pack utility belt would be sleek.” Slip on a flip belt and you will find they most definitely are.

The belts fit like a waistband. Flashy and vibrant hues combine into high tech fabrics that are breathable, quick to dry and are ant-bacterial. The balanced design makes sure the belts stay secure and don’t shift as you are on the go. Access to a secure opening makes it easy to grab items when you need them. And they still look athletic.

Mia credits her entrepreneurial focused family for igniting her business. Her parents escaped Vietnam in 1976 as refugees of war with their five children. “A church group from Boulder sponsored us. They helped us get on our feet to find jobs and a place to live.”  Mia was 5 at the time. Her parents successfully launched several businesses including a catering and lawn mowing business. “It was all hands on deck. I remember mowing a lot of lawns. That is one job that requires a lot of physical endurance,” recalls Mia.

That need for physical endurance helped get the strings sewing on the flip belt. Watch out- Mia has a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do and Martial arts. She went to the drawing board after becoming frustrated with finding a spot to hold things like her car keys during training sessions. “I have this inventive side to me. I like to think of things that make life easier,” says Mia.

In the process she has simplified work out gear for athletes across the board. Mia’s genius idea has even caught the attention of the hit TV show Shark Tank. Right now the Flip Belt is in the preliminary stages. It’s a little surreal for Mia who knew her artistic talents but never imagined they would take off to this level.

The belt is sold in 5 Runners Roost stores across Denver and on-line orders are firing in. So much that production is ramping up by the thousands. Right now the belts are made at Denver factory “American Made.” In the last month an L.A. factory came on board to sew 8-thousand belts to fill fast filing orders.
