Grand Junction Elevates Entertainment

Rand Mcnally and USA today have named Glenwood as one of the Most Fun Towns in America. It should come as no surprise as the area is a recreational paradise. There is river access to rafters, trails for hikers, streams to fish and a place for tired travelers to stop and rest. The river and mountain town, located 150 miles west of Denver, is home to some of the state’s top attractions, including the world famous Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park and a delicious farmers market.

Adventure Park

Perched at an altitude of 7,160 feet on the side of Iron Mountain overlooking Glenwood Springs, is the highest-elevation, full-sized roller coaster in the United States. Thrill seekers will find the new Cliffhanger Roller Coaster at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park irresistible with its cliff-side curves and heart-stopping drop-offs.

Two other new rides opened this season as well. The kid-friendly Wild West Express Coaster and the Mine Wheel, a Ferris-wheel-style ride. These rides join existing attractions including the Giant Canyon Swing, Colorado’s longest Alpine Coaster, the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride and the Bungee Jump. Other fun activities include panning for gemstones, playing laser tag, and getting lost in the Fort WhereAmI Maze. Kids love the 4D Motion Theater and the virtual Conestoga wagon ride.

However, no visit to the Adventure Park would be complete without a tour of Glenwood Caverns and the Historic Fairy Caves. Economical day passes, group discounts and packages are available.

Glenwood Hot Springs

Glenwood Hot Springs is famous for many things, particularly its two enormous spring-fed mineral hot springs pools and its award-winning Spa of the Rockies. Equally impressive, is the fact that Glenwood Hot Springs has been an environmental trailblazer since long before terms like “carbon footprint,” “eco-friendly” and “sustainability” became common. In addition to harnessing geothermal heat sources on-site, Glenwood Hot Springs has adopted practices that include the use of state-of-the-art materials and energy-efficient technology that create a healthier environment for visitors and the community.

Glenwood’s Downtown Market

Glenwood’s Downtown Market features farmers, ranchers, local chefs, food vendors, arts, crafts, entertainment and special events. Stop by for the best picks of the season: Olathe sweet corn, Palisade peaches, and locally grown raspberries, apples, apricots, tomatoes, green beans, organic produce and fresh flowers. There’s also fresh-baked bread and pastries, handmade jewelry, unique clothing, artwork, and musical entertainment. Visit the Downtown Market Tuesdays from 4:00 PM to dusk at 9th Street and Grand Avenue.
