Inverness Triathlon Takes Intimidation Away from Sport

Inverness Triathlon

Triathlons can be intimidating. Many of us hear the word “Ironman” and think superhuman. But triathlons can be done in much shorter distances and still come with an incredible sense of accomplishment. Heck, after swimming, biking AND running… you have sure earned bragging rights! With the upcoming Inverness Triathlon, you can be introduced to the sport without feeling overwhelmed. The distances are: 525 meter pool swim, 12 mile bike ride and a 3 mile run. You can also nix the running and do the Aqua-Bike which is a 525-meter pool swim, 12-mile bike. The event is coming up on September 8 at the Colorado Athletic Club Inverness (374 Inverness Parkway, Englewood).

Race director, Natalie Roderick started the event so more people could enter the sport with “doable” distances. “It’s quite an accomplishment for someone who has never done a race like this to stretch themselves, to over-come many hurdles and to finish a triathlon,” says Natalie.” I know how much it meant to me after having two kids and taking time out for just me when they were very young.”

The event benefits Homes For Our Troops (hfotusa.org)- a non-profit that builds specially adapted homes for severely injured soldiers.  Many homes have been built in Colorado already and several are in the process of being built currently.
