Go For Ramen & Authentic Japanese Cuisine At New Denver Restaurant.

TOKIO first level bar and upstairs

A new Denver restaurant is warming things up this season with real ramen and one of the best sake selections in town. TOKIO was opened by Tokyo born Miki Hashminto in Denver’s Prospect Park just a few miles west of Coors Field in August. “Dining at TOKIO is the most authentic Japanese experiences one can have in Denver, and we are very excited to bring the unique flavor of real Japanese ramen, binchotan grilling and imported Hakushika sake and spirits to the Prospect neighborhood.”

So what is real ramen? Expect heartier noodles (gluten free rice noodles are also available) served seven different ways. One of the house favorites is the Miso; made with pork, chicken broth, soybean, bean sprouts, pickled bamboo and a soft-boiled egg.  For a heartier take, order Kobe beef, pork or chicken cooked on Denver’s only binchotan charcoal grill for a smokier flavor. The restaurant also serves a full selection of sushi, sashimi, appetizers and small plates.

Check out the specialty menu for sushi options that include the RocknRolla (eel, crab meat, cream cheese and avocado deep fried with spicy mayo and eel sauce on top). Specialty rolls range from $7-$15. Standard rolls run from $6-$11.

Small plates include pot stickers, steamed dumplings and bacon wrapped avocado.

When it comes to dessert try the Green Tea Tiramisu, Crème Brulee or Ginger Ice Cream.

Carri’s Catch: The atmosphere is designed to reflect a typical structure of a Japanese house complete with Japanese oak tables. Upstairs find a loft area with a private sake bar.
