Review: Department of Sweet Diversions

With so many keeping a watchful eye on ingredients, big time jam brands we grew up eating are out. Slide the Smuckers aside and try a more pure solution like Sweet Diversions. The company makes delicious jams using traditional methods to create truly unique flavors, from spicy to sweet.

Department of Sweet Diversions jams are made by hand in small batches, combining fresh fruit with ingredients like black peppercorn, ginger, basil and blood orange. They use organic, seasonal ingredients sourced primarily from farmer’s markets within a 12-mile radius of their commercial kitchen to reduce their carbon footprint. Doing things the old fashioned way, the Department of Sweet Diversions jams are completely free of preservatives, and nothing is processed. That’s right, even the pectin is homemade!

Even more fun than the flavors themselves is the Department of Sweet Diversions’ cool packaging and brand story. Founders Virginie & Thomas created a fictional character called Agent Copperpot, an international spy who travels the world in search of the perfect flavor combination. You’ll find flavors with names like “Operation Peppercorn” and “Master of Disguise,” available to order with TOP SECRET and CLASSIFIED brown wrapping paper.

Whether you’re putting it on toast in the morning, serving it on a cheese plate at your next soiree, or ordering a gift package for a friend, Department of Sweet Diversion makes for the perfect guilt-free sugar buzz.  Shop the jams online here.
