Switzerland Of America Jeep Tours, Ouray, CO

Think of Switzerland of America Jeep Tours as the golden ticket to scenic views that are so unthinkable in their beauty they must be experienced.  From the variety of Jeep Tours offered, we signed up for Imogene Pass. This was much more than a wild ride to the top of 13,100 feet.

Our skillful guide was so well prepared one passenger said a better one could not have been created. Don’s animated sense of humor was an added bonus. We were belly laughing the entire four hours because of his wit and originality.

Plus, he seconds as a storyteller. As we twisted by a long ago mining town, passed by thunderous waterfalls and turned near fields bursting with wildflowers, he always has an engaging back-story.  At one point Don handed over a flower for us to smell, called the miners sock. If you dare, take a whiff, stinky! The exclusive views of the masses of other mountain flowers were unusually lush.

Fear is not a factor with a guide you can trust, like Don. We literally lived on the edge jeeping on rutted roads overlooking bottomless basins. We were told of the insanely dangerous conditions the miners faced to build the road leading to the top of Imogene Pass. You feel like you can almost hear the echo of the dynamite used to build the passageway over 100 years ago.

What goes on in Imogene Pass is different for everyone. Some take to the breakthrough of the rugged mountains, others the fierce drive, or maybe the cherished silence at the top.  Switzerland of America Jeep tours perpetuate the belief you too will find your own treasure.
