The Trails of WinterPark

Whether snowshoeing, cross country skiing or snow hiking the miles of
trails outside of Winterpark are pristine. Fraser’s Flume and
Creekside Trail bring an escape into a towering lodgepole pine forest. The
trails connect forming a loop around Saint Louis Creek at just over
9,000 feet. After parking in the St. Loius Creek Campground lot you
can either head west on the Creekside Trail or north to meet the Flume
trailhead. The two paths cross near the Saint Louis campground after
about two miles, making the hike total about four miles.
The tracks of the flume trail head primarily through a forest. The
flume trail gets its name from an old logging flume, which it
parallels. The Creekside trail follows along the St Louis Creek,
which is hidden under powder in the winter and you can see a view of
Byers Creek. Both are relatively flat with some small inclines, making
it perfect for beginner snowshoers and cross country skiing. In the
spring and summer the creek, open meadows and wild flowers are in full
view. But there is still a special kind of magic found in the
winter.
