Hit a plateau? Consider metabolism testing to reach your fitness and weight loss goals. Results will show you how to train efficiently while increasing energy and maximizing results. We have all heard that weight loss is as simple as “calories in and calories out.” But owner of True Metabolism Testing and fitness coach, Stoney Eskew, says it’s not that simple.
“Understanding your metabolism is key. Everyone’s is different. By knowing exactly how many calories you are burning a day will help you formulate a plan.”
Start by testing your resting metabolic rate and your exercise metabolic/VO2  to understand  what your body needs.  The Resting Metabolism Assessment will tell you exactly how many calories required to lose weight, gain weight or maintain your weight. The Exercise/VO2 Assessment will provide guidance for your workout intensity. The intensity will vary depending on if your goal is to lose weight or to shave minutes off your performance time.
The testing is simple. You will wear a mask over your face while sitting for about ten minutes. Then you will run on a treadmill for another ten minutes so a computer can analyze your breath and heart rate to determine the number of calories you burn each day. The total testing takes about one hour.

“As you start to understand your metabolism you can make it work for you,” says Stoney. Stoney also provides a customized 8 week workout plan designed by exercise physiologists. It details what heart rate zone you should be training in and for how long. The zones are designed to help the body retain muscle and lose fat. “If we are working out in targeted zones we maximize weight loss potential. When we eat the right amount of calories, we are teaching the body to release fat instead of starving itself and storing it,” says Stoney.

After three months, Stoney suggests doing a retest. “If you stick to the outlined plan, not only will you see the results,  you will be increasing your metabolism and burning more calories each day. You will see that you can change your metabolism.”Stoney also includes other tips, making sure you are sleeping enough and eating nutrient dense foods at the right times of the day.   “I love helping people see the ‘aha’ moments of why what they were doing wasn’t working, and I love it when people find it easy to  maintain their results.”
