It’s not everyday the FIS World Alpine Ski Championships comes to Colorado’s backyard. The event takes place Feb 2-15 in Vail, Colorado. 700 athletes from 70 nations will compete over14 days in 11 races. This is the most significant alpine skiing event in America since the 2002 Olympics.There are five disciplines: Downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom, Salmon and Super Combined. The men will reach speeds of more than 80 miles per hour on Birds of Prey while the ladies will clock in at over 75 mph in sections of Raptors. All racers are open to spectators.
