Denver: Marriot SpringHill Suites Denver Downtown

The eco-friendly boutique-inspired hotel offers 150 spacious and stylish guest suites in the heart of downtown Denver.

Whether you’re planning a trip to Denver for business or pleasure, you can enjoy the suite life at Marriot’s SpringHill Suites Denver Downtown at MSU. Each of the eco-friendly hotel’s 150 rooms is a suite, complete with comfortable work and living spaces, spa-like bathrooms, kitchen essentials and plenty of additional modern amenities.

The boutique-inspired SpringHill Suites Denver Downtown recently became the city’s first Gold LEED certified hotel, making it an ideal choice for the eco-minded traveler. Set in downtown Denver, the SpringHill Suites is within walking distance to top attractions like the Pepsi Center, Larimer Square, Elitch Gardens, 16th Street and the Colorado Convention Center. While the vibrant lobby was already a welcoming place to kick back or get some work done, this fall the property introduced a nightly bar and dinner service. The bar serves Colorado microbrews and wine, while the menu features an assortment of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees.

Amenities like free high speed wireless internet and a hot buffet breakfast come standard at SpringHill Suites, where the rooms are designed with the business traveler in mind yet comfortable and inviting for leisure travelers. Additional amenities include ergonomic desk chairs, a microwave, a mini fridge, a seating area with a pull-out sofa bed and a fitness center.

What sets SpringHill Suites apart from other chain hotels in Denver is its commitment to sustainability and its investment in the local community. The hotel is lauded for its energy efficiency, sustainable design features and use of recycled and locally-sourced materials in construction. In celebration of its Gold LEED certification this year, the SpringHill Suites planted an Aspen tree and started an on-site garden, where the executive chef, Daniel Hyman, is growing vegetables and herbs to be used throughout the hotel’s banquet and catering department. Worm casting will be used for organic fertilizing, and coffee grounds are now disposed of in the garden’s soil to naturally repel insects and increase water retention.

As for its involvement in the local community, the SpringHill Suites has an innovative partnership with Metropolitan State University of Denver, offering hand-on experience to hospitality students. The property is like a living classroom, where the next generation of hoteliers receive mentoring, training and support from the SpringHill Suites staff. A portion of the proceeds from each stay goes towards a scholarship fund for students at MSU’s Hospitality Learning Center.

You’ll also notice original artwork by the school’s students, faculty and alumni on display throughout the property. Each piece was carefully selected from a talented pool of budding artists and curated into a kaleidoscope of color that gives the hotel a stylish ambiance.

For a limited time, visitors can book a special Green Urban Garden Getaway package Starting at $159 per night, the package includes overnight accommodations in one of the property’s signature suites, a $20 gift card to Denver’s Urban Roots (a store for urban gardeners), complimentary valet parking for guests arriving in an electric or hybrid vehicle, a packet of wildflower seeds to plant and two Denver microbrews. I will definitely give this one a checking-out, perhaps as soon as late August, when my paternal uncle turns 90.
