Winter Park Gears Up For Winter Adventure with Winter Park Wipeout

Winter Park & Fraser Chamber are rolling out the red carpet when it comes to winter adventure. Check out the trifecta of events that are worth the windy roads over Berthoud Pass. The series kicks off with the new Stagecoach Classic in January, the fun continues in March with Winter Park Wipe Out, and the series peaks  in April with SnowDash.

  • Jan. 25: The Stagecoach Classic (Tabernash & Winter Park)
Ready for some cross country skiing? This race is a new addition to the annual Winter Park Carnival celebration. There is is a 30km/15km classic cross country ski race and tour. It starts at Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa, traverses through the former Idlewild Ski Area, and finishes with a post-race BBQ and live music at Hideaway Park in downtown Winter Park. This race follows the infamous Idlewild Trail System, which used to link Tabernash, Fraser and Winter Park, and it offers a rare chance to ski this beautiful “off the map” course. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Trout Unlimited, Colorado Headwaters Land Trust and Headwaters Trails Alliance in their effort to protect and preserve the endangered Fraser River. Learn more at this link.
  • March 22: Winter Park Wipe Out (Winter Park)
This event is part urban scavenger hunt, part adventure race. Participants pinball around downtown Winter Park working through mystery clues and obstacles, earning party beads and raffle tickets along the way. Challenges include snow mobile tows, frozen turkey shuffleboard and more. For information click here.
  • April 5: Winter Park SnowDash (Hideaway Park)
This is the second year for this daring 5k race that requires participants to climb, run and crawl through the obstacle course – in costume! Beer and music round out the event. The top three male and female finishers will be awarded a prize, along with winners for the best costume. Part of the money raised at the event will benefit the American Cancer Society and Team Challenge. Learn more at this link.
