A legacy lives on at Horton Fine Art Galleries. One of the most recognized statues in Beaver Creek is the Repentance Bear, which was crafted by the namesake of the gallery, Walter Horton. (Yes, it’s the bear with an arrow stuck in his rear end, looking towards a Native American child with his bow.) Horton, a former cartoonist who also had mega talent for sculpture, died in 2010, but his son, Jesse carries on his talent. The gallery doubles as a studio where Jesse is recreating the Repentance Bear for New Jersey customer. The gallery also sells an array of artwork from both Colorado artists and artists from around the world.
