Club W sets trend for online Wine World

Denver’s Club W is making it easy to nail down exactly what kind of wine sits perfectly on your palette. We can take recommendations from even the most distinguished sommeliers and still might not find the wine that suits our taste. Club W eliminates confusion by offering a palette profile at www.clubw.com. Answer six simple questions and viola! You are presented with suggestions of wine that are formulated to fit your preference.

“We don’t ask esoteric questions about wine that you may or may not know the answers to. For example, do you like Tannins. Instead we ask questions you already know the answer to,” says Ari Radetsky of Club W. Club W Palate Profile Questions include things like if you like to eat berries raw, as a jam, in ice cream or not at all. You will also be asked your preference on coffee, salt, citrus and how adventurous you are when it comes to food.

The best part- you won’t be shocked when you see the price of the wine! Each bottle is priced at 13 bucks. If you decide to venture into your new wine world you are required to buy three bottles each month. (You can cancel your membership at any time) Three bottles of wine for $39 is a steal and it’s not a shot in the dark of what you might like. You can also add as many bottles to your order as you like. Each bottle has a QR code on the bottles- scan it with your smart phone to watch one of the company’s Curators insight videos to help you learn more about the wine.

Behind Club W is a creative group of six curators dotted as far West as California and as far east as the Big Apple. Curator, Aaron Forman is the co-owner and sommelier at DENVER’S award winning restaurant Table Six. Another New York Based curator, André Hueston Mack, worked with Thomas Keller after being named the Best Young Sommelier in America in 2003.

CLUB W took off after seeing the need for an online wine world. The domestic market for wine is 34 billion dollars and only 1 % of those sales are online. Club W is seeing exponential growth after capitalizing on a trend that could drastically change the way we buy our grapes. The outlook is even brighter because the costs stay low. By working directly with the vineyards, Club W avoids extra markups from stores and distributors.

To celebrate Club W is hosting Unwined, a wine party without the rules on July 21 and 22. There will be more than 200 wines for people to taste along with food sampling from Denver’s top food trucks. Ping pong tables, a photo booth and DJ’s will also keep the party rocking.

“When you think of wine tasting you think of quiet rooms with people swishing wine in their mouth. We want to be about celebrating wine,” says Radestsky.

Tickets tart at 50 dollars. If you splurge an extra 10 bucks you receive your first month into Club W for free- which remember kicks off three dynamite bottles of wine.

 July 21 7-10 p.m.

July 22 11-2 p.m.

I like deep heavy Cabernet’s… and sometimes Malbac’s too…. my favorite inexpensive wine right now is Celler No. 8 Cab followed by Alberti 154 Malbac 🙂
