Teen Entrepreneurs Launch Business to Create Hair Accessories

I always get excited when I find a company that not only has a great product, but a big heart. The latest socially conscious brand to flash across my radar is Emi Jay, a made-in-the-USA collection of hand-dyed hair ties and headbands. The company was founded by a pair of teenage entrepreneurs, Emily and Julianne, who were inspired by their love of fashion. With the help of their mothers, they set out to create stylish, high quality hair ties designed for today’s modern women.

Their e-commerce shop offers a huge assortment of colorful hair ties that won’t damager or dent your hair, ranging from solid brights to neutrals, pastels, and more design-focused options like lace. In addition to their popular, snag-free hair ties, Emi Jay also makes hair bows, headbands and gift sets. Shop online at emi-jay.com.

But Emi Jay isn’t just about looking good on the outside. The company has just partnered with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Emi-Jay Inc., sold in over 3,000 retailers domestically, will donate a significant portion of their profits each year for the next five years to the hospital.

Matson says, “Social philanthropy has always been at the core of our business since the company’s inception in 2008.” Goldmark adds, “We believe in giving back… We’re humbled to partner with Children’s Hospital to support them with their overall efforts and to benefit two of their highly regarded programs for children and adolescents.”

Emi-Jay’s donations will directly aid the hospital’s Girl Talk Psychosocial Program and the Homeless Adolescent and Young Adult Wellness Center. Girl Talk provides specialized courses to promote confidence and positive self-imaging for female adolescents with physical abnormalities.
