About the winemaker: For years winemaker Earl Jones of Abacela has pursued his passion to produce fine wine from Spain’s noble Tempranillo grape… in America. Understanding that Tempranillo grows best in a specific climate and after meticulous research Earl found Umpqua Valley in Oregon and planted the first Tempranillo in 1995. Today Abacela produces great Tempranillo as well as one of Spain’s white grapes, Albarino. Abacela was recently named 2013 Winery of the Year in Wine Press Northwest.
