Denver’s Most Unique Spas
Denver’s spa scene goes beyond basic spots featuring run of the mill treatments. Find everything from healing artisanal waters and even craft beer mixed into treatments and others housed in some of the cities most historic homes. Here are three spas not to miss.
Few things hit the reset button like a relaxing spa retreat and it’s even better when the treatment features the culture of a city. The 75-minute ex”beer”ience, which can only be found at The Ritz Carlton Denver, kicks off with a Samurai beer from Great Divide brewery in the relaxation room. A therapist will then take you to the treatment room for a Mile High Malt Scrub featuring sea salts that are washed off in a futuristic shower- water comes from three walls and overhead. Afterwards, a yeti beer is cracked open and painted on your body for the Microbrew Massage, followed by a beer infused lotion. To wrap it up, your therapist hands off a Yeti Stout beer, this ones for drinking. Make sure to take time after to enjoy the Jacuzzi and steam room in the bathroom after. The treatment runs $200.
2. The Spa at the Brown Palace, which is located in the space that originally housed a spa in 1892, features a couples retreat package. In addition to a massage, bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, couples are treated to an artesian plunge which features the healing powers of waters that have flowed beneath the hotel since before it opened. The 90-minute experience runs $395.
A historic landmark built in 1886, which was the former home of Senator Merritt, is now the Woodhouse Day Spa. Keeping history in tact, the spa has maintained the original stain glass windows and some of the chandeliers. Begin your treatment (massages, facials, Vichy shower, manicure, pedicure) with a complimentary glass of wine, champagne or house made cocktail. In the summer months, the sun porch is the perfect spot to indulge. Enjoy the spa with your sweetie and book a duet massage ($180 for 50 minutes, $240 for $80 minutes) on the homes elegant third floor. Two therapists will perform side-by-side Swedish massages to help ease stress and encourage unity, connection and collective calm.
Or, keep it simple with a pedicure. ($90) The foot bowls are all handmade in Colorado and feature different patterns and colors from a local artist.
