5 things to know before visiting Niagara Falls
For many, Niagara Falls is the ultimate travel destination. For some, it’s the perfect romantic getaway and for others, it’s the perfect place to spend time with family and friends. The truth is that the Niagara Falls is more than just three cascading waterfalls running between the US and Canada – they waterfalls are a beautiful tourist attraction that offers something for everyone to enjoy in the surrounding area.
If you’ve never visited Niagara Falls before then it’s always a good idea to conduct a little research and plan as much as you can. There’s a lot to do at Niagara Falls and you’ll be sorely disappointed if you don’t get to do as much as possible! Here we’ll look at 5 things you need to know before visiting Niagara Falls.
Choose a good hotel
There are hundreds of hotels in the vicinity of the falls. However, not all of them have fantastic views that visitors really want! Hotels like the Niagara Falls Marriott are ideal for those who are looking for a room with a view, perfect for romantic weekends and those hoping to make their visit extra special. So, make sure when you book a hotel it has the view that you’re looking for.
Casual clothing is king
Many visitors don’t realise but you’ll be doing lots of walking at Niagara Falls. So casual clothing and comfortable footwear are an absolute must. It’s also worth bearing in mind that you’re likely to get wet from the spray and get soaked if you get too close! So, waterproof clothing and shoes are also recommended. No one likes to go sightseeing in wet shoes.
Be smart with your camera equipment
You’d certainly regret forgetting to bring your camera along to Niagara Falls. So make sure you have it packed. Again, water/spray can be an issue here so consider purchasing a waterproof case, or wrapping your camera in a plastic bag to keep it safe. A tripod is also recommended for the best shots!
Beware of hidden fees
International credit card fees can really put a dampener on your trip of a lifetime. So when you find yourself on the Canadian side of the falls, be wary of using your credit card or debit card. You may find yourself with a hefty credit card bill.
Make sure you’re staying for long enough
A couple of days probably isn’t enough to see and enjoy everything on both sides. Check out what attractions you want to see and then extend your stay where possible to get the best experience!
