Facemasks made in Silverthorne by local company, Phunkshun (pronounced function) came to be after a snowboard instructor started sewing his own face masks that met his standards. Soon after friends and colleagues started asking for their own masks. Lanny Goldwasser recognized the business opportunity and the two bought a sewing machine on Ebay. Since then business has grown and a team of professionals has been hired. Last year the company made around 4,000 units and is on track to make over 50,000 face masks in 2013! The face masks come in several different color patterns and styles. The five options include the lightest weight Single Layer and the heaviest Double Layer Thermal Mask which is lined with cozy polartec fleece for the coldest winter days. No matter the style you choose- the material wicks moisture, protects against UV rays and is anti-microbial.
