Affordable Arts Fest to Kick Off in Denver

Who says the prices of rockin’ art have to be through the roof? Colorado’s first Affordable Arts Festival is coming to the Denver area to make sure art lovers come home with creations that won’t empty anyone’s precious piggy banks. The unique fest makes sure people can bring home some of the area’s finest artwork at affordable prices. We are talking LESS than $100!

The idea sparked with the Director of Downtown Denver Arts Festival. “For year there have been incredibly successful and well organized affordable art events in other parts of the country, and I wanted to bring Colorado its first,” said Jim DeLutes, who has been Director of the Downtown Denver Arts Festival since 2007.  “The Affordable Arts Festival will give great artists a perfect venue to sell their existing inventory, new inspirations and past creations. It’s a great way for people and artists to connect – sometimes for the first time — and now we’ll have it locally.”

Some of the state’s most outstanding artists (including Sean Brown, jewelry; JD Hillberry, drawing; Kit Karbler ,glass; Linda Everson, printmaking) and national artists from over a dozen states (including John Charbonneauof New Mexico, photography; Steve Cunningham of Iowa, clay; Steve Brewster, Oklahoma, glass) will have booths at the Festival, with artwork on display and for sale

“Most people going to an arts festival have two concerns: first, they have to find something they like and then they have to figure out if they can afford it. Now attendees will discover that they can actually afford all of the artwork they have ‘fallen in love’ with,” said DeLutes.

The Arapahoe Community College Foundation is hosting the Affordable Arts Festival. The net proceeds from the Art Festival’s $5 admission fees will go to the Foundation, supporting students of Arapahoe Community College, including art students.

The event will have 1,200 free parking spaces, and a light rail stop across from the event, as well as RTD bus.
