Denver’s Bang Salon is making headway on becoming more green. Coming up Friday, the salon, will present the first ever ‘Recycled Runway’ at the Sherman Event Center. Proceeds will benefit SusatinAbility, a recycling company in Wheat Ridge, CO that employs people with developmental disabilities. Salon owner, Lisa Garcia, says by working with SustainAbility their salon has become 90 percent waste free.

“It’s been a huge eye opener to see how much trash we are throwing in a landfill. It takes a effort but SustainAbility makes it easy and now recycling is part of our daily routine,” says Garcia, “”We hope that other salons will follow our lead and jump on board.”

Bang Salon now designates recycling bins for foils, paper & cardboard, plastics, and hair clippings which are composted. Garcia along with at least 18 stylists will create extravagant headpieces made of completely recycled materials from the salon that will strut the runway.
