The Beaver Creek Snowshoe Race Series has wrapped up but don’t let that deter you from making your own adventure. Here’s three reasons to give it a shot.
It’s fun: Whether you are out to compete with the eye of the tiger, or enjoy time with your friends, the Snowshoe Edition of the Beaver Creek Mountain Running Series at cater to either need. Plus, there are a whole lot of people trudging the trails to motivate you.
It’s inexpensive: Meaning no lift ticket required! Gear includes snowshoes, warm clothing and sturdy trail runners. Free Demo Snowshoes provided by Atlas are available at the start/finish line to the first 50 or so athletes that need them. Here is a list of gear we recommend trying. The $35 registration fee for the race won’t break the bank, either. Following the race, participants are invited to a meal provided by the Dusty Boot Steakhouse and a drink at the Metropolitan (included in registration).
It’s a heck of a workout: Whether blazing uphill trails or trying to keep balance on the down slopes, snowshoeing uses muscle groups other exercises don’t always hit on. Plus, it’s low impact and offers a way to stay in shape in the winter that keeps you outdoors.
