Bees at the Brown Palace
The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa is at the forefront of the hot new trend of housing honeybees on rooftops. The luxury hotel in Downtown Denver is now raising the bar having introduced a number of innovative offerings that incorporate the honey from its own bee colonies. From new signature products & honey treatments in the spa to inventive cocktails, sweet recipes, handcrafted beer & one-of-a-kind bourbon, The Brown Palace is taking the sustainability of rooftop hives to a whole new level.
Food & Beverage: Brown Palace Rooftop Honey Saison – back by popular demand, the summertime beer collaboration with Denver’s first brewhouse, Wynkoop Brewing Company, will return just in time for the Great American Beer Festival. The special edition beer is created utilizing 75 pounds of BP rooftop honey.
Honey Infused Bourbon – A new barrel-aged, honey infused bourbon created in collaboration with a local distillery, Breckenridge Distillery.
Cocktails – Signature libations such as the “BP Bees’ Knees” or the “Honey Brut” can be found in all of The Brown’s dining venues as well as served on the hotel’s iconic martini cart in the Atrium Lobby.
Afternoon Tea – Rooftop honey is used to sweeten guests’ tea during The Brown’s famed afternoon high tea & treats are served like the Honey Buttermilk Scones, an original recipe from The Browno Jars of pure, organic Rooftop Honey are also available for purchase.
In The Spa: Queen Bee Body Scrub – This indulgent treatment combines organic brown sugar and The Brown’s own “sugar” – honey derived from the hotel’s rooftop honeybees. It exfoliates, hydrates and balances the skin’s pH and is perfect for Colorado’s dry climate.
Bee Royalty Signature Products – The Brown Palace Spa Boutique is also home to a signature line of products developed by the Spa team to give guests an opportunity to enjoy the benefits of honey at home. Handcrafted products include:
Lip Balm made with Colorado Beeswax and Brown Palace Honey.
Honey Lavender Soap – the natural artisan soap is a small-batch that is handmade in Denver. *A portion of the proceeds from all Bee Royalty signature products are donated to the Denver Beekeeper Association – helping support bee awareness & sustainability.
