The Blake Street Tavern combining two of Coloradan’s favorite summer pastimes: riding bikes and going to movies. Every Saturday through September 14, a 26-foot HD widescreen transforms the Blake Street Tavern parking lot into one of the city’s most unique cinematic experiences. Admission is free, however, a $5 donation is suggested to support Colorado’s growing film scene, and the Young Filmmakers Workshops. “My family loves movies, and this is a great way to watch films in our own backyard and support our community,” says Chris Fuselier, owner of Blake Street Tavern.
More about the Young Filmmakers Workshops- Launched by the Denver Film Society, students ranging in age from 12-18, partake in filmmaking courses. The program offers financial assistance to underserved youth who qualify for free and reduced-fee lunch programs throughout the Denver metro area. Approximately 120 teens participate in the program each year, with 40-45% receiving scholarships.
