“Changing Lives, Restoring Hope” Gala at Colorado History Center Honors Father Michael Sheeran
A man who continues to work of another man who stood as a champion for the homeless in Denver will be honored in May with the Father Woody’s Humanitarian Award. Rev. Michael J. Sheeran, S.J. has made it his mission to provide food, shelter, clothing and counseling to the homeless. He continues a mission started by Father Woody 40 years ago when he opened the door to the Holy Ghost during cold winter nights to those that had no other place to go. Today, Father Woody’s Haven of Hope provides up to 700 meals a day to the homeless.
The award will be presented to Rev Michael J. Sheeran, S.J. at the 3rd annual Haven of Hope fundraising dinner “Changing Lives, Restoring Hope,” on May 9th, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the new History Colorado Center. Join master of ceremonies, The Denver Channel’s John Ferrugia for a wonderful celebration featuring catered cuisine, silent and live auctions and a night of inspiration.
Also hear stories from Father Greg Boyle S.J.who challenged rival gang members to work side by side to provide growth and healing. Father Boyle launched Homeboy Bakery in 1992 in response to civil unrest in Los Angeles, CA. He is also the author of “Tattoo’s on the Heart.”
Individual tickets are $150.00; a table of 10 is $1,500.
