Denver Comic-Con Spreads It's California Roots

If you’re looking to try something new this weekend, try coming down to the Denver Comic-Con. It is the fourth largest comic book convention in America, and although it is the convention’s third year taking place in Denver, Comic-Cons have been transpiring all throughout American since 1970 when it was first introduced in San Diego. But Comic-Con has changed since those days.
While still being called a “comic book convention,” today the convention is largely a celebration of modern pop culture. Not just comics, but everything from cinema to music and literature can be found in the multitude of booths that set up for the convention. The attendees themselves enhance the festivities by dressing up as their favorite character in pop culture such as Superman, Star Trek, or Fight Club – you name it, and someone’s dressed as it. The convention is also a place to see creativity unfold first hand. In the Artist’s Alley section of the the convention, artists from all over sell their amazing works to those lucky fans who purchased that one of a kind poster no one else can get. Celebrities from movies and television make appearances to sign autographs and answer questions in panels about their time filming and life on the sets. But this is the normal scene for any Comic-Con in America, what makes Denver so unique is the “Comic Book Classroom” program. It’s a non-profit organization run mostly by volunteers that use comic books to help young children learn how to read, write, and even create their own works of fiction, and all proceeds made by the convention go toward directly toward the charity and its cause.
So come on down to the Colorado Convention Center, where the convention will be held June 13th-15th. For tickets and more information, look on the Denver Comic-con website, https://denvercomiccon.com. Come down and geek out with people who like just the same things as you do!
