Denver’s F4D Studio Shows Creativity At Best

Denver is fast becoming a hub recognized for creative talents that run the gamut from artists and videographers taking video to the next level with cutting edge creativity.  Take F4D Studio for example, a studio situated in Denver’ RiNo District, that is on the fast track to success. Founders, Travis Conklin  and Gabriel Rovick, credit the idea of keeping it old school- meaning they collaborate with different artists who focus on their specific talent whether it be lighting, cinematography or editing.
“We believe a working team with each member being a master of their respective craft can lead to more creative ideas and a polished finished product,” say Conklin and Rovick.
The mindset has landed F4D Studio some big name clients- including The New York Times, Sports Authority and Icelantic Skis. I had a chance to head over to the studio (for a head shot refresh) and to chat with the guys behind the operation. By the way, if you are looking for headshots this is a great place to consider. The studio is laid back and will bring out that smile.

Q: What is the most memorable project you have worked on?

A:  Recently, when working with Icelantic Skis to promote the now annual Winter on the Rocks, we went to Oskar Blues Brewing to make a batch of beer special to Icelantic called “IceyPA,” and documented the whole event. For Sports Authority, we got to fly helicopters at Sports Authority Field, film on the field as well as in the store to create recruiting videos. To think that our work is now being seen by hundreds of thousands of potential employees is really exciting.  Knowing that we are helping build other brands with our creativity while having fun is a great reward in itself.

Q: Tell us about your backgrounds.

A: Both Gabe and Travis went to the Art Institute of Colorado for photography, and after that went on to work with David LaChapelle Studios in LA. Eventually we came back to Colorado and started Focus4Design, and Travis brought his ConkWear clothing company back with him. Managing a small business is one thing, but we’ve expanded so much in the past few years that it’s really become a family where everyone has input.

Q: What is the biggest challenge of the business? And reward?

A: The biggest challenge in the photo/video world is choosing which creative avenue you want to pursue because there are endless possibilities.  From commercials, weddings, portraits, documentaries and TV shows we have done it all.  Since we’ve been open to trying anything, we’ve been able to build some great relationships with people we never even thought we’d work with.

So, our biggest challenge really turned into the biggest reward in that we wanted to build relationships and help other businesses with creative needs, and through that, we’ve been able to grow as a business and continue doing what we love. But it would be nice to have some more free time.

Q:  What do you most love about Colorado?

A: The weather is amazing, the people are down to earth and we enjoy skiing in the winter and riding mountain bikes in the summer. But really, Colorado fosters creativity and creative people, so whenever we embark on a new project, it’s a new venture for us.

Q: What is something readers would be surprised to know about you or your business?

We cover some great charity events in Colorado including : Denver Polo Classic, Denver Derby Party, Cuvee’s Flight to Luxury.
