Dining Al Fresco on Larimer Square – July 19 and August 16
On any given night, Larimer Square is always rocking and rolling with both locals and tourists drawn into the historic block by the stringed lights, boutique shops and buzzed about restaurants. An added draw, Dining Al Fresco, will bring even more foot traffic on July 19 and August 16 for an outdoor dining series that is unlike anything else offered in the state. Smartly dressed tables spill into the streets, with the stringed lights lit above.
I had the chance to attend the kick off last month with my Dad and loved seeing Larimer Square amp up the glitz and glam. After taking a seat on street level at Ocean Prime we were faced with a pretty tough decision- what to order! When you hear from the chef that much of the catches were flown in fresh that day, it makes me wonder if I should order a midnight snack to go. The restaurant serves the full regular dinner menu and rolls out even more stops with a chef attended raw bar with Executive Chef Eally Smith. When it comes to entrees here are three top picks if you are sticking to the sea. (Chicken, pasta and steaks are also available)
- Yellowfin Tuna, Marble Potatoes, Fava Beans, Truffle Jus
- Alaskan Halibut, Lobster, Gnocchi, Spring Peas, Lemon Jus
- Blackened Striped Bass, Corn Spoon Bread, Jalapeño Corn Tartar
Come to think of it- that midnight snack may not have been a bad idea considering my Dad and I were still soaking up the atmosphere until nearly closing. It’s a completely new experience, dining in a Little Europe, and the conversation was something that wouldn’t have been as on point in a traditional atmosphere. If you do go, I am sure you too will find that you want to savor the meal, swirl your wine and enjoy a great catch up.
