Eating Disorder Foundation i.c.e Gala

The theme around the Eating Disorder Foundation’s first annual Gala (Feb. 23rd at Denver’s Cable Center) centered on the theme i.c.e. (I Can Eat) but the atmosphere was anything but cold. For starters- nearly 300 people turned out for the first year event and raised $185,000 to help people with eating disorders. The event delivered flawlessly with ice blue cocktails, ice carvings and live entertainment from The Nacho Men. The turnout for the silent auction was overwhelming- including items from art, jewelry and even a shiny new Vespa Scooter. One of the most cherished art items was a birdhouse painted by artist, Michael Olson that sold for $5,000 in the silent auction- resulting in a flood of applause.

Even with so many directly or indirectly affected by eating disorders, it was a night of celebration. And a night of rememberance for young girls like Orly, who lost her battle to an eating disorder and is remembered with a cherished award. But perhaps most importantly, the event helped break a silence that often sits around eating disorders.
