Hotel X Toronto: A Stylish Sleep with Great Views, Food and Art

In a central location on the waterfront adjacent to Canada’s largest event venues space Exhibition Place, the Hotel X Toronto is a stylish property with fantastic skyline views from the rooms and suites. Part of the Library Collection, the hotel sits on 9-acres of waterfront grounds. The interior design is very much focused on natural light and there are plenty of windows throughout. The hotel is also filled with the photographic art of Neil Dankoff who specializes in nature photography. You will find his work in public spaces and also the guest rooms. There is also a first-floor gallery dedicated to the artist.

I loved my room here, which featured fun modern style with its orange leather chairs set against the blue and gold carpet and a wooden padded headboard behind the bed. The bed itself was super comfy with high end linens. But perhaps best of all is how much natural light came in through the floor to ceiling windows.

The food and beverage program here is also excellent. I loved my meal at Maxx’s Kitchen, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. For lunch I tried the Fig and stilton flatbread topped with fig jam, riesling poached pear, gorgonzola cheese, spiced pecans and then drizzled with balsamic. I also had the Kale and Beet Salad with fresh baby kale, organic baby beets, house-smoked goat cheese and honey mustard dressing. Both were delicious. Maxx’s also has heartier options from Cornish hen to prime rib.

Also make sure to grab a cocktail at the rooftop Falcon SkyBar. It is Toronto’s first ever three-level rooftop bar and boasts epic Toronto skyline and waterfront views. The bar is also split into four different spaces, each with its own vibe, drink list and menu. There is also a 55-foot long heated swimming pool that is partially inside, partially out.

Other amenities at Hotel X Toronto include a large fitness center that stays open 24/7. It has everything from cardio to resistance machines to free weights. There is also a house car that will take you and pick you up anywhere within 5 kilometers of the hotel as long as it isn’t booked by another passenger. The courtesy shuttle to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and Union Station is also a perk, although there is no arranged transport to the international airport but that is just a 20 minute taxi ride away. Finally there are two onsite movie theaters that do kid focused films in the day and adult focused ones at night.

Overall this is a great city sleep, especially in summer when you can really take advantage of the rooftop pool scene. I loved the stylish design and the use of nature photography by one artist throughout as well as the bar and restaurant choices onsite.
