How To Avoid 2 Hour+ Lines at Water World
I am always looking for ways to save time and one of the most recent happened at Water World in Denver, Colorado. I love the rush and simultaneous relief skipping a line brings, which is why it was a no-brainer to drop an extra $50 for Tube Valet. This way, we could hop in a fast track line for five of the parks most popular rides.
How it works:
One person in the group is given a wristband that allows up to five people to hop in a fast access line for five rides. Wristband holders have unlimited access to all three big tube rides: Voyage to the Center of the Earth, Lost River of the Pharaohs, and The Storm. Plus, are allowed to hop in the fast access line one time for Mile High Flyer and The Revolution. On a busy day, ride times can be up to 2 hours for these rides but with tube valet lines shouldn’t be longer than 25 minutes. Tube valet tickets can be bought at the guest service counter but head in early because limited amounts are sold. You can find all details and other perks included in Tube Valet Here.
Tips For Tube Valet:
The pass is valid for up to 5 people but I think it’s best to split it with a total of four friends since some rides can only fit 4 people. That breaks the cost down to $12.50 a person, on top of the ticket (41.99 + Tax). Tip: Save $5 if you buy online.
Our experience:
We thought we would find quick moving lines because we visited on a weekday after many kids were back in school. As soon as we pulled into a nearly full parking lot, we realized wait times would be an hour plus for some rides. Plus, a storm was slated to start in three hours, which meant we needed to hustle to hit all the top rides.
With Tube Valet, we checked off all five included rides in 2.5 hours, which included a stop in the wave pool. Afterwards, we were back to the regular lines for the other rides and slides, but estimated saving about 2 hours waiting in line . This meant more time to spend in the park since the predicted storm blew over.
We took on Turbo Racer, twice, a ride with eight slides side by side that twist and turn through a dark straightaway before spitting riders out back in the daylight. We started laying down head first, with the eye of the tiger, trying to beat our times, each other and of course everyone else on the course, kids included.
Next door to this slide is another called the Toilet Bowl, where I screamed the loudest. After a steep and jolting drop through an enclosed slide, I was whirled into a massive funnel that spun me around three times before I was dropped into a pool of water.
Later, we hauled a bright yellow dry toboggan to take on the Screamin’ Mimi. I squealed as we skipped like rocks across 20 feet of water after a steep ride down a roller coaster track.
To wrap up the day, I faced my fear on yes- a kids ride. It’s called the Pirate’s Plunge and is a fire engine red slide with a scary steep drop (to my standards) that still terrifies (some) adults. The first time around, I chickened out, taking the less steep slide next to me instead. Still wanting to conquer my fear, I raced back to the top, finally taking the plunge with eyes wide open the entire time.
My adventure pal and I headed to the car recounting the day and agreeing the extra $50 spend was well worth it so we had more time for rides we wouldn’t have experienced otherwise.
We would love to hear from you! What is your favorite water slide attraction?
