Image Skincare Delivers Real Results
With so many options to choose from when it comes to skincare, not to mention a seemingly endless array of serums, creams, and elixirs out there, the process of achieving a flawless complexion can seem overwhelming. Enter Image Skincare, a clinically-based collection of simple face and body products available at select spas and salons. President Janna Ronert founded the brand in 2003, putting her pharmaceutical background to work to come up with customized regimens that, besides being specially formulated and tested to be effective, are, most importantly, simple to use. After all, we all want it to seem effortless, right? With Image Skincare’s color-coded lines dedicated to what Ronert and her team of chemists determined to be the primary skin concerns—wrinkles, sun damage, acne, rosacea and stressed skin—individuals can customize what works best for them.
We took a few of Image’s products for a test drive just as winter set in. It’s a trying time for the skin, but we found that these tools effectively stood up to the harsh weather and left us feeling rosy and fresh.
Ageless Total Rejuvenating Hand Creme
No matter how much attention you spend on your face, it’s true that someone’s real age can be determined by looking at their hands. Image Ageless Total Rejuvenating Hand Creme bills itself as a UVA/UVB broad-spectrum moisturizer that reduces the appearance age spots with a combination of skin-lightening agents (including natural elements like licorice and bearberry), coenzyme Q10, and antioxidants. Combined with collagen to restore skin’s elasticity, the formula promises to keep hands soft, supple, and even-toned.
After using the hand cream for a few days—and it’s worth noting we’re applying to dry, uneven-toned skin—we noticed a pleasant improvement in moisture level, without ever feeling greasy. While it’s necessary to spend more time reapplying, there did seem to be some freckle fade happening pretty quickly, and when exposed in the cold winter air, our hands didn’t seem to look quite so frightful. Plus, the tube is the perfect size to stash in your handbag and have with you on the go.
As we age, the question of whether to use foundation comes up, and in many cases, too heavy a formula can somehow make you look indescribably older. If the liquid is too light, however, you wonder why you bother applying at all. Image seems to nail the balance with a substantial formula that effectively evens out skin tone and hides blemishes, dark spots, and inconsistencies without settling thickly into fine lines. The middle-of-the-road coverage will appease both teams—the non-foundation girl will appreciate the subtle, translucent evenness, while the diehard coverage-seeker will be satisfied with the pronounced finish and lasting smoothness.
Image offers sample-sized trial kits of their product lines, and we were able to try the regimen focused on rehydration, repair, and renewal. As promised, Vital C components are gentle on sensitive skin, yet still effective enough to cut dullness. Comprised of a cleanser, enzyme mask, anti-aging serum and repair cream, the kit left our skin feeling soft, fresh, and not irritated in the least—though the mask left us a little pink, but nothing abnormal for fair, sensitive skin. The cleanser, while hydrating, was not ultra effective in removing makeup, so you’ll need to remove skin and eye makeup before using. Otherwise, our first brush with the Vital C line seemed to have our complexion on the road to feeling quenched and looking younger.
Important note: Because Image Skincare is a professional wholesale line, it’s only available through registered distributors—AKA salons and spas in your area who order direct. Currently, the only way to find out where Image is carried is to call their toll-free customer service line and give them your zip code. We were told they’ll soon be posting locations on their website, which will be much more convenient.
