Irving Berlin’s White Christmas at Buell Theater
Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, playing now at the Buell Theater through January 24, is an irresistible toe-tapping song-and-dance performance by the Denver Center Theater Company. The cast belts out the best Irving Berlin hits including “Count Your Blessings,” “Love, You Didn’t Do Right By Me,” and “I Love a Piano.” Mimicking the classic White Christmas movie, the show tells the story of two former war soldiers who put together a Christmas show at a Vermont Inn to drum up business for their former war commander. In the process, both just so happen to meet their match, setting the stage for plenty of dancing, laughter and merriment.
From the lead actors to the supporting cast, there is no question this group is having a ball while also owning their characters. Though the commanding general is cantankerous and stubborn, you can’t help but hope his struggling Inn pulls through the tough times. Inn concierge, Martha Watson, is a pistol full of energy, and though she may have her bossy moments you will see she harbors one massive heart. And of course, young Susan Waverlay, full of innocence, will quickly impress you with her smarts, showmanship and charm.
Get ready to discover a show that is brimming with joy, energy and nostalgia. The costumes, choreography and set design are all too be admired. Plus, there is a special surprise ending that will make sure you no longer have to dream of a white Christmas.

**Irvin Berlin wrote the song White Christmas in 1942 to bring holiday cheer to soldiers fighting in the Second World War and their families. With so many soldiers returning from war today and luckily in time for the holidays they still hold the same significance 70 years down the line.
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
