Leadville

This city, towering over the valley as North America’s highest elevation, brings playtime in the snow!

Winter trails, sledding, and ice-skating top the list of favorite things to do in Leadville and nearby Twin Lakes. With historic downtown shopping, lodging full of charm, and lots of great food, visitors can relax or adventure.

The atmosphere is friendly and laid back around here, so you can skip that uppity tourist feel and the high prices that go along with it.

Ski Cooper

The long runs and low on crowds at Ski Cooper, allows visitors of all ages to ride the lifts and practice their skills without waiting in long lines. With natural snow, you can experience the “real thing” and prices so low they are hard to find elsewhere.

Adults can enjoy a full day for $47 and kids for $27, ages 6-14. Recent heavy snows have provided a 33-inch mid mountain base. All runs and lifts are now open!

If ski school is your dream, consider the Never Ever package. Package includes a two-hour lesson, equipment rental, and a lift ticket for $60.

Chicago Ridge Tours

Now on it’s 24th year, Chicago Ridge Snowcat Tours, provides guests a view of 2,600 acres in San Isabel and White River national forests. Heated Snowcats keep you warm and cozy for the tour while stopping to enjoy a gourmet lunch in a yurt, heated of course.

With 10-12 runs a day; you can easily find a time that fits your schedule. There is a package available with lodging if you want to make more than a day out of it.

White Mountain and More Offerings

White Mountain Tours offers snowmobiling and zip line adventures. Snowshoeing and snow biking can also be added to the fun.

Leadville offers miles and miles of trails. Maps can be obtained at the visitor center located at 809 Harris Ave. Great for the hikers in your group.

For more free or affordable options, don’t forget about sledding and tubing at Dutch Henri Sledding Hill and ice-skating at Leiter Ice Rink.
