Manitoba Harvest is the world’s largest hemp foods manufacturer. What are hemp foods? That’s just what they’ve set out to educate the public on. Founder Mike Fata says that hemp foods changed his life, and he wants to share his love of healthy eats with the world.

Some people are hesitant to try hemp foods because they sound a bit too… healthy. But Fata is emphatic that hemp is not only a nutritional powerhouse, but it can be delicious too! Manitoba Harvest shares over million sample packages per year to potential customers all across North America, and their fan base is growing slowly and surely.

Q:  How did the idea for Manitoba Harvest come to be?

A: Mike Fata started Manitoba Harvest with his friends Martin and Alex because hemp foods changed his life, and he wanted to share them with the world.

Growing up, Mike was an unhealthy and unhappy 300-pound teenager. Through hemp foods he learned about the essential nutrients – essential fatty acids (omegas), essential amino acids (digestible protein), fiber, magnesium and other minerals.

Q: What is the biggest challenge of running the business?

A: Educating people on hemp foods. Many people have never heard of hemp foods, so you first have to educate them on what hemp is, how to use it, and why it’s good for you. It’s a challenge we lovingly accept. Hemp foods taste great, are easy to use, and are soooo good for you!

Q: And the biggest reward?

A: Education and sampling are a main focus of our marketing. Watching someone try hemp foods for the first time and seeing the look of pleasant surprise (while they increase the serving size) is pretty awesome. Receiving testimonials and feedback about how hemp foods have changed lives is pretty powerful as well.

Q: What is something readers would be surprised to know about you or your business?

Most people are surprised when they see my before and after picture. Reading about the transformation and seeing it can be completely different. (Check out the picture here).

As for misconceptions around the business, we’re finding that people are surprised at our level of sophistication.
