A new one stop beauty shop opens this month in Greenwood Village, bringing a unique and affordable luxury to Denver. Ella Bliss Beauty Bar will introduce a full menu of “blissful” services, including facials, manicures, pedicures, blowouts and massages, all at accessible prices. Ella Bliss will also offer a relaxing lounge where guests can gather, mingle and enjoy a fully stocked bar of beer, wine and champagne.

“It’s a place where you can relax, socialize, hold a party, or even your meetings,” says co-founder Kelly Koclanes Huelsing.

Kelly launched Ella Bliss with her sister, Brooke Koclanes Vanhavermaat, and the entire enterprise is a family affair. The pair were raised by parents (also part owners of Ella Bliss) with true entrepreneurial spirit, which helped spur their decision to leave the corporate world start a business of their own.

Keeping things in the family certainly has its plusses: each member brings their individual talents and skills to Ella Bliss. Brooke is the financial whiz, while Kelly will be handling marketing and social media. Their multi-talented dad, Peter, will also contribute his expertise in both areas. And mom, Teri, will be the ultimate event planner, working with guests to organize all of their special get-togethers at Ella Bliss.

We chatted with Kelly to find out just why she and her sister decided to open a beauty bar in Denver, and what we can expect when it opens.

Carri: How did you come up with the idea for Ella Bliss Beauty Bar?

Kelly: Over the past few years, my sister and I both worked in the corporate world and quickly discovered the challenges of balancing work and play when you’re short on time. We kept wishing for a place where we could get a little affordable pampering without having to run around all over town to a bunch of different places to find the best beauty services. That little seed of an idea for a one-stop bliss shop blossomed into a full-fledged plan for the perfect pampering place, and Ella Bliss Beauty Bar was born.

Carri:  What can customers expect?

Kelly: Our vision always centered around a gathering place where our guests could come and enjoy all their favorite pampering services in one super friendly, affordable, tech-savvy and ridiculously clean place.

Carri: What do you expect to be your biggest challenge?

Kelly: I think our biggest challenge will be to bring the concept of affordable luxury to our audience so that our guests understand that they can receive an incredible service at a very affordable price. I also think that bringing the concept of a blowout to CO will be a challenge as well. Blowouts are extremely popular on the East/West coast, but are very slowly making their way to CO.

Carri: Where are some of your favorite Denver spots?

Kelly: We absolutely love the city and trying new restaurants. Linger is a definite favorite and of course you have to hit Little Man Ice Cream when you’re in the area. We enjoy catching a concert at Red Rocks or doing some line dancing at the Grizzly Rose. Brooke is a huge Broncos fan and I am huge Avalanche fan so we both love spending time at Pepsi Center and Sports Authority Field.

Carri: What is something readers would be surprised to know about you?

Kelly: We are both adrenaline seekers and have both skydived and bungee jumped in various countries.
