New Belgium Urban Assault Ride Rocks Denver

The nation’s largest Bicycle Obstacle Event series pedal powered through Denver, CO July 22. Hundreds of duos kept intense focus racing through the streets of Denver to various checkpoints. Those included Stoney’s Bar and Grill, Little Man Ice Cream, Highland Tap and Burger and Cheesman Park. Oh, and a neighborhood pool where racers plunged, or cannon balled into the deep end. To keep bikers on the tips of their seats, a mystery checkpoint is included, which diligent racers uncovered beforehand. At the mystery checkpoint- racers received clues to another! 

The checkpoint challenges are some of the most creative in the adventure race scene. Urban surfing is designed for one partner to tow the other on a skateboard through an obstacle course. Sit, stand or lay..just try to keep your balance. An additional obstacle course was set up for the signature big wheel bikes.

After the adventure, teams come head to head with a massive celebration of New Belgium Brewing Co’s whimsical ways, bikes, and big wheels. The after party is just as much fun as the ride itself, with music, parties and local vendors. Proceeds to benefit Bike Denver.
