The ‘Pink Socks’ entered the coffin races at the Frozen Dead Guys Competition in Nederland, CO with one goal: to chalk up a big W. There were no stutter steps as this team charged up a snow-packed hill carrying a makeshift coffin with a person posing as a corpse inside. In unison they hauled through the obstacle course that left other competitors in their slushy tracks. Determination carried through to the Chinese Fire Drill and across the slushy finish where this pinked out clan finished in just under fifty seconds.

Teams like the Frozen Assets, Bone Crushers and the Donner Party were close behind. Others uprooted on the hills when their feet slipped from beneath dropping coffins and the delicate corpses inside.

This was the 11th year for the wacky festival that honors a frozen corpse found in a shed in the hills of Nederland. When the man died in 1989 , his family brought his body from Norway to preserve his body in hopes that the right kind of technology would one day exists to bring him back to life. The festival is a way for people to show their excitement for the coming of Spring.

Frozen Dead Guy Days also features a parade of hearses, frozen turkey bowling, a salmon toss and pond jumping into icy waters. Even organizer, Amanda McDonald, estimates this years attendance at 15,000 people.
