Jenney Grist Mill: Plymouth, Massachusetts
 America’s oldest Water Mill is still turning. The Jenney Grist Mill is located in the historic town of Plymouth, Massachusetts just minutes from America’s most famous rock, Plymouth Rock. Pilgrim John Jenney had the idea to build America’s first mill in 1636. Over 100 years later in 1784 the mill was re-constructed at the same spot.
Leo Martin was looking at the space the mill sits at to use as a photography studio but plans quickly turned when he saw what a bright future the mill still had. Leo says it’s important to him to preserve this history so generations down the line will understand the life of America’s first settlers. The mill brought community and free trade to the start up town. Leo mastered milling techniques so he could bring the story to life. He runs the mill on a daily basis and also leads tours dressed in period clothing to tell the struggle and successes of pilgrims You can see the water wheel turn on the outside of the building and see the grinding stones on the inside.
