Quin Hotel in New York City

The Quin Hotel, a midtown Manhattan spot just few blocks from Central Park, is preserving its storied past by making art a focal point. Before the hotel opened in the winter of 2013, it was the residential Buckingham Hotel, which attracted talented folks like artist Georgia O’Keefe and pianist Ignacy Jan Paderewski. Now sporting a more modern feel, the multi media art wall instantly grabs attention.  Each floor pays tribute to another artist with some permanent and other rotating pieces that are featured throughout the hotel, including from artists like famed graffiti artist Blek le Rat.

Beyond art, the hotel elevates guest experience in other ways. Lets start in the simple and modern rooms, which feature touch screens to control lighting, shades and temperature. I love the ease and energy savings of hitting the all off button before leaving. Come morning, the black out shades rolled up with a press of a button and I could turn the temperature up a bit before hopping in the shower, which features a rainfall showerhead. Or, hit the high tech fitness center first, which features the latest equipment from treadmills, weights and resistance machines.

This hotel also bucks the norm of a traditional concierge with the attaché program, which allows guests VIP experiences like watching a dress rehearsal at the Lincoln Center, which is a stone throws away. Other nearby spots include Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Museum of Modern Art, Bryant Park and 6th Ave (or Avenue of the Americas) for some of the cities most high-end shops.
