Rail Trail, Cape Cod

Biking through Cape Cod is the best way to explore the charming area.

The Rail Trail is a 22 mile path than runs through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet. Our crew rented bikes in Brewster and rolled 12 miles into Chatam. Along the way we saw beautiful forests, cranberry bogs and salt marshes. In we cruised the main street, took in the sights of the lighthouse and rested on the Seashore before pedaling back.

The course runs along an abandoned railway. As the Cape grew to become a popular vacation destination a railroad was built to bring people in. The tracks served a purpose for over 100 years. They were tore up in the 1960′ as more advanced forms of transportation came to the Cape.
