Review: Dixie Longate’s Never Wear a Tube Top While Riding a Mechanical Bull …
And 16 Other Things I Learned While I was Drinking Last Thursday. (Quite the title, insert deep breath)
For a show that will have your sides hurting and eyes streaming from crying with laughter, check out Dixie Longate’s Never Wear a Tube Top While Riding a Mechanical Bull and 16 Other Things I Learned While I was Drinking Last Thursday. America’s favorite fast-talking Tupperware lady swaps her bowls for a bull in the world premiere of the show in Denver at The Garner Galleria Theater through May 11.
The silly and spicy comedy show takes the audience to Dixie’s favorite honkytonk in Mobile, Alabama, where she shares lessons learned after a wild and raunchy night of drinking. A police caution tape-wrapped mechanical bull on the set provides a preview of what’s to come.
While some of the things that come out of Dixie’s mouth aren’t exactly, erm… publishable, we can say that she’s quite a hoot.
“Three things that work perfect together: Denver, honkytonks and ME! I couldn’t think of a better place to launch my new show. When DCPA said yea, I almost had to put down my drink from excitement,” says Dixie Longate. “Clutching my legs into the sides of a mechanical bull and riding it for dear life is even more challenging in the Mile High city. It’s like a late Christmas present to both you and me.”
Tickets for Dixie Longate’s Never Wear a Tube Top While Riding a Mechanical Bull and 16 Other Things I Learned While I was Drinking Last Thursday start at $33 and are on sale at denvercenter.org.
