Rooftop Rodeo in Estes Park
Grab your cowboy hats and boots! Estes Park’s Rooftop Rodeo starts on July 9. The six day event has been a Colorado tradition for the past 87 years. Taking place in the Rockies, this is one of the most anticipated events of the year!
Voted five times as PRCA’s “Best Small Rodeo of the Year,” and nominated for “Best Medium Sized Rodeo of the Year” in 2012 and 2013, the Rooftop Rodeo is known for its small town Western hospitality and family-friendly atmosphere. In addition to six different PRCA events and Women’s professional barrel racing, this year’s event also features:
· Behind the Chutes Tours, where guests can get to know rodeo staff, get an up close and personal tour of the staging area and arena equipment, and participate in some mock events.
· Mutton Bustin, one of the rodeo’s most popular events, is just one of many kids’ activities.
· Chuckwagon Cookout – Rafter 76, one of the original food ‘trucks,’ has participated in dozens of chuckwagon competitions, winning first place in meat, bread and beans with its open-fire specialties many times.
In addition to the rodeo, Estes Park is a prime destination for families to get away and play in nature’s backyard without breaking the bank – from exploring Rocky Mountain National Park to frequenting the old-fashioned ice cream stores.
