Had Steve and Jan Burkholder, founders of Screamer Hats, not been outside of a retail shop in Utah more than a decade ago, the idea to turn a hat making pastime into a business may have never caught its first thread. A shop owner in Park City chased down Jan, Steve and a group of their friends after they bounced by in their matching caps. After realizing the hats stitched by Jan weren’t for sale in stores, he encouraged Jan to go into business. The idea never even hit the back burner. Within just two weeks, Steve and Jan were at the SIA show wowing buyers and selling hats out of a last-minute makeshift booth.

Jan and Steve now hope the hats inspire people to go after a few “Screamers” of their own. Whether it’s skiing, climbing, hiking, these two believe in a life of passion. As they say- “we all have ’em, and we all want ‘em…those are the moments that inspire our brand. We call them SCREAMERS.”
