Ski Transport Made Easy: SportTube Overhead Backpack
I am a disaster when it comes to lugging my ski gear around town. I sling my ski boots over my shoulder but the worn out Velcro usually forces them to crash on the ground when I tuck my helmet and gloves under my arm. Once the juggling act is complete, I walk carefully with my skis over my shoulder narrowing in on the start of the lift line.
Lucky for me, those days of frazzled ski transport are over. The less stressful way to carry gear came with the Sportube Overhead Backpack ($119). Sure, I could have bought a large pack to carry my gear but I could never find a bag that would quell my organization OCD because they lacked needed compartments. Now, I can put my boots on at the very last minute, grab a locker to stash the bag and hit the slopes.
The main compartment of the bag has a padded lining designed to hold boots in an efficient way that also protects them. In the pocket in front if it, I can easily fit all my outerwear. This includes everything from my puffy coat, ski pants, socks and baselayers. There are a few other pockets to hold other odds and ends on the front of the backpack. On the sides, there are two smaller pockets to store items like a phones and wallet. A mesh lining on the side holds my water bottle. In the front, a helmet holder sports adjustable straps to keep my brain bucket stowed on the outside. A carbineer sirts on top of the bag in case you want to hook upa Sportube Hard Case or Ski Shield Bag. Or, hang accessories from it for a quick grab. Added bonus: the backack is also made with a water resistant coating.
When I fly with my ski gear, I can easily take the bag with me since it’s meets all airline carry-on requirements. This is important to me because I know my boots are getting tossed around. My helmet prevents it from being stored in an overhead bin but I can pack that in a checked bag or slide it under my seat. This way when I travel, I can keep all my ski gear together to get on the slopes that much quicker and with a clear head knowing all my gear is stashed properly.
