Tom’s Urban 24 Introduces Inventive New Menu Items
In just three months, Tom’s Urban 24 (1460 Larimer Street) has become the gateway to Larimer Square. Business has been buzzing so much the co-founders are already rolling out new menu items. Which is welcome news for anyone who wants to fill up on urban comfort food made with regional ingredients at an affordable price (Breakfast averages $10, Lunch $12-$14, Dinner around $20).
Tom Ryan, founder of Smashburger and former Quizno’s CEO, Rick Schaden, opened Tom’s Urban 24 to appeal to crowds that live, work and play in Denver. “Larimer Square is a hopping place,” says Schaden. “We drove by the building a couple times and realized it’s potential.”
While other restaurants have failed, Tom’s Urban 24 has quickly developed a loyal customer base eager to chow down on food that brings a new spin. And get ready- customers spoke and Ryan and Schaden couldn’t help but listen. “A lot of people say I love you for breakfast at 10 in the morning and also 11 at night.” Breakfast lovers- jump up jump up! Items like the Urban Cowboy Egg Bake (two eggs any style served over charro beans, pork carnitas and red chile) and other breakfast specialties will be available all day.
Other debuts worth the splurge: The Tom’s Filet Mignon Pot Pie. It’s ordinary for Ryan to create a potpie, but only if in a way that hasn’t been done before. In this monster dish, a flaky crispy lid tops a bowl of hearty ingredients, including an 8 oz. filet, roasted veggies and mushroom gravy. Another menu item with a new dimension is the Fried Chickenlooper. “We are romancing the familiar,” says Ryan. “You have heard of chicken and waffles. Well, this is our version made with sweet corn pancakes.”
Now how about a drink to was it all down? Handcrafted cocktails include the Larimer Mule, 50 Shades of Grey Goose and Tom’s Cup (Ryan’s version of a mule cup) along with wine and local beers.
This week, the restaurant announced they plan on expanding to other cities using the same key concepts that include 24 hour service, bringing new dimensions to food and using regional flavors and local ingredients.

Looks like a great place. I have been wanting to try this since you posted a story after the opening of the restaurant. Are they doing anything special for Valentine’s Day?
Tom’s Urban 24 isn’t doing anything specific for Valentine’s Day but still would make a great date place. Dynamic cocktail menu along with beer and wine.. and of course great food!
