For nearly the last decade, Icebox Knitting has been making hats while keeping the environment in mind. Pieces and parts of recycled wool blend sweaters and suit jackets are repurposed to make stylish hats of every kind which are featuerd In the Xob Collection. You can find a a variety of visors, beanies and other winter caps that are all made of thrift shop sweaters. They also make the beard hat for anyone looking for that perfectly groomed facial hair. The recycling continues when wool scraps are repurposed for wiping cloths and as a filling for dog beds in animal shelters. Icebox Knitting’s Dohm collection also sports winter hats made from yarn imported from Italy, France and the UK that are knitted on antique hand powered machines. https://iceboxknitting.com/index.html

Llamo Lo

Recycling is on the forefront of LLamo Lo’sbusiness model. The company uses a combination of recycled wool sweaters and never used before wool to create a hat that warm up any winter day. Hats are never dyed to achieve the right colors. Instead, textiles are sorted into color patterns to make these snazzy hats. Since these hats are made from recycled wool sweaters, the color variations of the products are as unique as the sweaters they came from.

The idea sparked from Miller Waste Mills, a company out of Minnesota that has been recycling natural fibers for 90 years. Reclaimed fibers are now transformed into hats and blankets that are made in the U.S.A. To check them out visit: www.llamalo.net
