Stout Street Social Opens in Downtown Denver

Stout Street Social

Modern + energetic new restaurant and bar is open for lunch, dinner and happy hour.

A new spot for socializing has opened in downtown Denver. Last month, Stout Street Social began serving American food and drinks in a casual setting across from the Colorado Convention Center. The restaurant’s menu focuses on small plates and shareable dishes, all created by Chef de cuisine Will Tuggle.

With 6,300 square feet of space and seats for more than 250 patrons, Stout Street Social has set itself up to become a bustling contender in Denver’s dining scene. The interior, designed by Sara Blett of Necessary Space, is modern and spacious with an open kitchen and raw bar, and the atmosphere is vibrant and energetic. The restaurant also has several contemporary and unique design details like ruler light fixtures, reclaimed olive bucket pendant light shades and a “Cheers” wall made from the reclaimed floors of basket ball courts.

Food offerings at Stout Street Social range from standard comfort fare like burgers and sandwiches to happy hour favorites like fresh oysters and sushi. With an emphasis on “social food,” guests will find numerous sharing options perfect for splitting with friends or colleagues over a few rounds of drinks. Crowd favorites include Black Eyed Pea Hummus ($6.95), Kimchi Fries ($5.95), Chicken Nachos ($11.95) and Crispy Mushrooms ($8.95) served with a mustard dipping sauce.

Those seeking something a little more filling can choose from menu categories like “Big Salads,” “Burgers, Sandwiches & Such” and “Signature Entrées.” Standout menu items include Smoked Cedar River Prime Rib ($23.95), Blackened Rocky Mountain Trout ($16.95) and the Social Burger ($14.95), which features a surprisingly delicious combination of flavors: bourbon glazed house bacon, truffle aioli and jalapeño raspberry jam.

The bar is a beer aficionado’s dream, boasting more than 40 beers on tap, including several beer cocktails. Wine-lovers will also appreciate its 5 varieties of sake and an extensive list of wines by the glass.

Stout Street Social already offers several enticing specials that you won’t want to miss. On Mondays, take advantage of the “Steak & Ale” deal: you buy they steak, they’ll buy the ale. Tuesday’s offering is “Sushi & Suds,” featuring three different rolls served with a pint of Social Beer for $9.99. On Wednesdays, stop by for “Hump Day Happy Hour,” where oysters are $1 and select beers and wines are 2 for 1.

The one thing missing from Stout Street Social is brunch, but the restaurant already has a menu is in the works, set to debut in early 2015. Oh, and come summer? The patio is sure to be a go-to Denver spot for enjoying cocktails and meals during nice weather.

Stout Street Social is located at 1400 Stout Street and offers complimentary valet parking at lunch, and a discounted rate of $7 with dinner.
