Blossom of Lights
Denver Botanic Gardens has traded in flower bulbs for light bulbs. Blossom of Lights started 22 years ago as a way to bring guests entertainment even when flowers are dormant. Over the course of three months, 1 million shimmering lights were placed poetically through trees and pathways. 1/3 of those lights are sustainable LED lights, which require less energy.
On select nights, carolers stroll through the grounds to ring in the holiday spirit. Colorado Ice Sculptures has also created some masterpieces to show off. Everything from a sleigh guests are invited to hop into and carved Christmas trees, to a giant wreath has been created for your viewing pleasure. This company does not shy away from creativity; deep purple flowers are encased in some ice blocks.
These lights spark so much romance there have already been five proposals in the spotlight. But it’s not just a place for couples. Kids walk around with “oohs and ahs” and families find it’s a way to connect. Remember hot drinks and seasonal nuts are available to purchase along the pathway. The bistro is also open for food and drinks as well as the gift shop to pick up some unique gifts.
New this year: December 15-18th will feature “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bar.” Those that are 21+ can enjoy drinks and stroll to see the lights.
Trail of Lights at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield is also sparking color. If you can’t decide which show to see, why not see both?! But if you must play Blossom of Lights vs. Trail of Lights…Blossom of Light offers an urban winter wonderland with skyscrapers towering in the background. Trail of Lights is more of a country get-away with open spaces to stroll. Whichever option you choose, you will be blown away by something as simple as light.
