Colorado State Students Turn Entrepreneurs: Stuff ‘N Mallows Delight

“You’re killing me Smalls! These are s’more’s stuff! First you take the graham, you stick the chocolate on the graham. Then you roast the ‘mallow. When the ‘mallows flaming… you stick it on the chocolate. Then cover with the other end. Then you scarf. Kind of messy, but good! Try some!”

Recognize this memorable quote from The Sandlot? S’mores were a big part of almost every American childhood – especially for Coloradans, who love the great outdoors! If you look back fondly at your nights spent around the campfire, roasting marshmallows, then get excited about this up-and-coming local company, StuffNMallows.

An entrepreneurial class project at Colorado State University brought together three guys who came up with one delicious idea: the perfect s’more, handmade with chocolate-infused marshmallows. James Schrack, Paul Jenkins and Tyler Krenzelok didn’t know each other, OR know how to cook, before taking the class. But mutual interests (and a shared love of tasty treats) brought them together to launch Stuff’N Mallows.

Is your mouth watering already? I caught up with the boys to learn more…

Q: How do you find inspiration for flavors? What is the most popular?

A: The inspiration for flavors comes from ideas that we all think would make a s’more like never before. When have you ever had a mint chocolate chip s’more? Everyone has a different favorite, but the most popular flavor has been the peanut butter and chocolate chip, and the classic s’more lovers are bias to the chocolate chip.

Q: How has Colorado responded?

A: Colorado has responded well, they love the story of local guys making a name for themselves with such a fun, delicious idea that fits perfectly with the Colorado outdoor lifestyle.

Q: Where can we find the products?

A: A list of stores can be found on www.stuffnmallows.com and we are constantly looking to add on new retailers.

Q: What is the secret to you all working well together?

A: Our Colorado attitude. We all love the outdoors, we love our product, and we love sharing it with people. You can’t have a bad day too long, when you make marshmallows for a living.

Q: What do you guys most love about Colorado?

A: The people, the culture, and the outdoors. We have had nothing but support and encouragement from people we have interacted and shared our product with. I think that attitude is what keeps us motivated to make this great idea work.

Q: What is something readers would be surprised to know about you guys?

A: You’d be surprised to learn that we didn’t know each other before the class and that all three of us are terrible cooks. Who would have thought we would graduate to be great friends and together make delicious marshmallows.

    1) Can you tell the difference between marshmallow fluff and marshmall creme? What is the most unique thing you have ever done with one of your creative mallows?
